Jamie Mackie returns to the Port

Tayport Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Mackie as our new Assistant Manager. Jamie returns for his third spell at the Canniepairt, this time as Player - Assistant Manager.

Jamie first signed for Tayport in the summer of 2011, initially on loan from Raith Rovers but the deal was later made permanent. Jamie then moved to St Andrews United in November 2012 but in August 2016 re-signed for the Port and was with us until June 2020. Since leaving the Port Jamie has been Player-Coach at Fife Thistle. In total Mackie has played 134 times for Tayport and has scored 28 goals. We asked Jamie about how he felt about returning to the club as Player - Assistant Manager. "I am really excited to be coming back. It is a great opportunity to learn from and work alongside Eddie, Grant and Bobby. It was a great opportunity that I couldn’t turn down and hopefully it can be a successful one for myself and the club. I am looking forward to meeting the boys in the changing room and getting started, I still speak to a few of the guys that were there before so it will be good to get back involved again. The club had started getting work done to extend and upgrade the facilities when I left, so it is now really good to see the work finished. All the guys that have done the work have done a great job. I am looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces on the side-lines and hearing the usual shouts. Lastly I would like to thank Colin and Gary at Fife Thistle for all they have done." On Jamie's appointment Tayport Manager Eddie Wolecki Black had this to say, "I am delighted to welcome Jamie aboard, not only will he be an asset on the pitch but his experience in the coaching field over the past few months should prove to be of great benefit to the club. It is no secret that we have been a little short in numbers defensively and this situation has been exaggerated by Covid and work schedules. Therefore it was essential to get our squad strengthened and I believe the signing of Jamie helps us do that. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jamie back to the club and wish him the very best of luck in his new role." Welcome back to the Port Jamie!
