Letham FC vs Tayport (13/04/24)



Yesterday, Tayport managed a narrow 3-2 victory over Letham FC, with Scott McComiskie as the man of the match.

 

Tayport set the pace early, dominating possession and asserting control. The first goal was just the 6th minute by Scott McComiskie, putting Tayport ahead of the game. Despite several attempts from Letham, goalkeeper Daryl Burns made a crucial save at the 11-minute mark to maintain their lead. The home team continued to press, and their efforts were rewarded again in the 15th minute when new signing Jaden Ferguson doubled their lead, making it 2-0 with a superb strike. Tayport scored another goal in the 24th minute, bringing hope to the team for a 3-0 score, but the goal was ruled as offside. As the first half neared its close, tensions began to rise, culminating in a missed penalty by Letham in extra time, leaving the score at 2-0 as the teams headed into the break.

 

The second half saw Letham regaining some ground, scoring their first goal in the 54th minute. However, Tayport responded with Scott McComiskie scoring for a second time in the 61st minute, making the game 3-1. The match continued with heightened intensity, and Letham managed to score one back in the 87th minute through a penalty. Despite Letham's late surge, Tayport held on to secure a 3-2 victory.

 

Scott McComiskie was undoubtedly the star of the match, contributing two crucial goals for Tayport. His performance not only provided the necessary advantage over Letham but also earned him the man of the match honours. Tayport's early dominance and strategic play in key moments were pivotal in their victory, leading them to walk away with 3 points.
