Tayport kicked off the 24/25 Midlands League season with a well deserved win against Montrose Roselea!
The first 15 minutes of the game was hectic with goals firing in at both ends of the park. Roselea started the scoring with a wayward cross that floated over Fraser Burnett's head and saw the visitors take the lead. Tayport responded almost instantly with Ethan Samson carrying on his pre-season form to draw the game level. Roselea then went back up the other end and found the target to reclaim the lead.
On 24 minutes, the referee pointed to the spot and awarded Tayport a penalty after the Roselea keeper lost control of the ball and wiped out Scott McComiskie trying to collect it. The initial penalty was saved but the ref ordered a retake which allowed McComiskie to send the keeper the wrong way, slotting home to tie the game.
Tayport then saw a few chances come close but went into the break still level with the visitors.
Tayport came out with all the momentum from the first half and showed their creativity through the midfield and out to the flanks. Jamie Gill was close to giving Tayport the lead but couldn't find the target from close range. A corner was given a few minutes later and Jamie Hume was the man who met the ball with his head and powered it into the goal to give us a well deserved lead.
The referee blew the final whistle and Tayport grabbed three well deserved points after a dominating performance.
