Tayport vs St James - EoS Cup (21/08/24)

Tayport are through to the next round of the East of Scotland Cup after a tense battle against Dundee St James!

The first half was a slow one for The Port, after our first ten minutes of positivity and a red card for one of St James' coaching staff. St James took the lead in the 21st minute but this lead was quickly cancelled out when Ryan Smith latched on to a shot that was pushed away from the keeper and tapped home to draw us level. Moments before the break, St James would take the lead once again with a cool finish into the bottom corner.

Tayport came out for the second half raring to go. The first 15 minutes of the half showed the determination of the boys to grab another goal but with the lack of control in the midfield, this proved to be difficult. Sam Simpson popped up with a sensational goal out of nowhere with 15 minutes to go. A ball was floated into Kieran Crichton who missed the ball in flight which confused the goalie and subsequently found it's way into the net. Simpson didn't stop there, he scored almost the exact same goal two minutes later to give us a well deserved lead. A penalty was awarded to Tayport and Sam Simpson stepped up to grab his hat trick

Kyle McMulkin sealed the deal with a lovely finish that sneaked into the near corner to confirm our place in the next round!
